A man in his 40s who served in the police during the days of the Shah approaches director Makhmalbaf and reminds him that he promised him a role in a film. Some 20 years earlier, the 17-year-old Makhmalbaf stabbed this policeman in an attempt to steal his weapon, and was sent to prison. The idea which the director presents is quite simple: each of them will reconstruct the event from his own point of view.
