Jack is a pioneer the field of Hitler studies. Babette, his wife, takes care of the elderly and is probably addicted to mysterious medicine. When a dark noxious cloud makes its way towards their home, the two have to evacuate and face the fact that their existence will end. Noah Baumbach presents an adaptation of the 1980’s Don DeLillo novel about hyper-Capitalism, environmental pollution, and death anxiety. In a stylized, and less naturalistic, style Baumbach continues to explore the strains of family life and the apprehension of his heroes about life and death.
