Wedding in Jerusalem and its Evolution

Over the past decade, we mourned the loss of two cultural icons – Arik Einstein (2013) and Uri Zohar (2022), who became religious in 1977. Renen Schorr's short film, Wedding in Jerusalem, revealed the sensational 1985 wedding of Ephraim, the son of Eliya and Uri Zohar, and Shiri, the daughter of Alona and Arik Einstein. This bohemian wedding publicly turned Arik Einstein and Uri Zohar into in-laws. The film opened the 1985 Haifa Film Festival, and became the most-watched film in the history of Israeli shorts. Schorr will screen the restored version of the film, and reveal never-before-seen footage from Wedding in Jerusalem 2 – another round of the "Mechutanim".

The event will include a discussion moderated by Marlyn Vinig, featuring Renen Schorr, ultra-orthodox and secular filmmakers, and a Q&A session with the audience. In Hebrew.
