There are endless myths and legends about Billie Holiday, one of the greatest jazz singers of the last century. She is usually portrayed as a tragic victim of drugs, alcohol, men, the color of her skin, society or the circumstances of her upbringing. To some extent, she herself has contributed greatly to the creation of legends, especially in her autobiography "Lady Sings the Blues". The documentary focuses on stories told by her close acquaintances and refutes many of the myths surrounding her personality. Holliday was a determined woman with a strong will, and her complex personality did not match the image of the classic victim. Watching the film gives us a glimpse into the essence of her music and her life.
