After a series of murders and rapes, Alex is captured by the police and sentenced to prison. In prison, he volunteers for an experimental program that will cure him of the violence. At the end of the program, he returns to the streets and discovers that the world is not forgiving. The synopsis above fails to convey the power of Stanley Kubrick's mighty and terrifying masterpiece. Kubrick created a futuristic parable in which strength stems from identifying and attraction towards the main protagonist - a sadistic and violent man that does not restrict his violent and sexual desires. The way Kubrick designed this character in collaboration with Malcolm McDowell (in one of the best performances in cinema) labeled the film as a scandal. The ever analytic and pessimist Kubrick looks with an ironic eye at the treatment of crime and violence to presents the law, punishment, and justice as other types of violence. In a career full of masterpieces, The Clockwork Orange is still considered a pinnacle of cinema that should be experienced on the big screen.
