Touch of Spice captures the historical conflict between Greece and Turkey through the story of a young man. Fanis, from a family of Greeks living in Istanbul, has learned about life and food from his grandfather, Vassilis. Fanis forms a friendship with a young Turkish girl, and they make a deal that he will teach her how to cook if she will dance for him. Soon, political turmoil steps in, and the Greek family is relocated to Athens. 35 years later, still troubled by the trauma of deportation, Fanis decides to make his way back to Istanbul to find the girl.
