Michael Dorsey is a gifted actor whose problematic attitude has left him unemployed. His solution? Dorothy, his female alter-ego. Following an audition to a soap opera, she becomes a star. Tootsie is one of the best films ever made, with an inspired script, a tremendous performance by Dustin Hoffman, and Sydney Pollack's exquisite direction that engulfs the audience with both irony and empathy: in on the joke, but also swept away by it. A true classic.
