Truman Burbank discovers one day that his perfect life is a television show that has been broadcast non-stop for the last 30 years and that all the people in his life are merely actors. Peter Weir's film has gained a variety of interpretations: Capitalist critique, a discussion of the limits of cognition, or a parable about the meaning of life; however, at its beating heart lies a delightful and complete film as very few films have ever been able to be. Weir knows how to use Jim Carrey's nonpareil presence in a way that serves the brilliant script well, and the result is a masterpiece not to be missed.
