USA 2004 | 152 minutes | English | Hebrew subtitles

An intelligent and effective biopic based on the life and career of the legendary musician Ray Charles - from losing his eyesight in early childhood, to his rising career during the 1950s and 1960s, and his problems with racism, drug abuse, failed relationships and his ideas to change the music by combining rhythm and blues and gospel music. The remarkable actor Jamie Foxx not only captures the essence of Charles' exterior but suggests his psychological structure, as well. He received an Academy Award for Best Actor for his performance as well as the Golden Globe, BAFTA, Screen Actors Guild, and Critics' Choice awards.

Charles Ray was set to attend an opening of the completed film, but died of liver disease in June 2004, several months before its premiere.
