The film follows a day in the life of a pregnant woman, while closely following the events in her neighborhood in Paris. The film is an impressionist look at pregnancy as a physical condition and as a social event. 

90 minutes in the life of a spoiled nightclub singer as she waits for the medical verdict on whether she is to live or die.... Through a rhythmic and measured cinematic language, Varda succeeds in capturing her heroine’s mental reality. The result is a touching poetic cinematic experience about love and death.
