Elad Samorzik

Artistic Director, Jerusalem Film Festival

The Jerusalem Film Festival marks its 37th year with a special winter edition (during a particularly challenging time for the cultural world bound by strict restrictions on social gatherings). We believe there is no replacement for the interactions that a film festival provides between the audience, the filmmakers, and film on the big screen. However, taking into consideration this year’s unique circumstances, and out of a deep obligation to our audience and filmmakers in Israel and abroad, we decided to bring an outstanding program directly to your homes.

The Festival's artistic program includes 100 films reflecting the best local and international films from the past year – as well as meetings with the artists, master classes, and professional events. We are especially pleased that this year's festival will highlight the artistic achievements of contemporary Israeli cinema, whose creators search incessantly and without compromise for new artistic forms and challenging cultural and social themes.

The Festival production has been made possible thanks to the support of various organizations, funds, and cultural institutions that recognize the value of superior cinematic programming. We thank all our supporters and friends and all the devoted individuals who made this festival possible by donating their time, knowledge, and talent towards its success. Special thanks are extended to the Cinematheque and Festival staff who developed and implemented the current edition of the festival out of a true love for the art of cinema.

On behalf of the entire team, we would like to welcome the filmmakers and audience members to this year's festival. We invite you to be drawn in by the films and enjoy taking part in the enriching and beautiful cinematic experience offered by the Jerusalem Film Festival.
