Cinema Para-Dudu

Exhibition by Painter Dudu Harel

Giuseppe Tornatore’s love of cinema is evident in the sentimentality of his film Cinema Paradiso, a sentimentality I have also felt as a child, through my youth and to this very day. This love of cinema is expressed in an exhibition of paintings inspired by the first movies and movie stars I have seen in cinemas, in youth clubs and in school and outdoor screenings – wherever I watched cinema and was charmed and inspired.

Pop art allows me to bring back to life the actors of the past and contemporize them using strong colors, as opposed to the sepia hues of the printing technology of those days.

Cinema Per-Dudu presents figures that have left their impression on me and scenes relating to the Jewish films celebrated in the festival. It is my tribute to the giants of cinema, who let me escape to other worlds.

Dudu Harel, Graduate of Bezalel (Visual Communications); member of the Israel Painters and Sculptors Association; owner of a design studio in Jerusalem, established in 1974.

The exhibit will be presented at the Jerusalem Cinematheque during the Jewish Film Festival.
