The Monkey House

An author's desire is about to come true when a doctoral student intends to write a major study about him that will give him the legitimacy he deserves. He hires a personal assistant to help with the research. Though she introduces herself as a literary expert, she does not have much knowledge in the field. Initiation, pretense, self-image and completion are the themes of Avi Nesher's new film. As in his entire career, here too Nesher proves to be a skilled and thoughtful filmmaker: he offers a solid plot and receives from his actors performances aimed at the heart.
