Eighty years ago, the Italian people accepted the persecution of a minority which had been living in Italy for centuries. The film before us demonstrates how the implementation of racial laws affected Italian Jewry, and how the Jewish and non-Jewish population experienced racism and persecution. Through witness accounts and scholarly analysis, along with animated segments, 1938 - Diversi offers a new reading of this dramatic historical period, shedding light upon the role of mass media in one of the most tragic racial persecutions in the history of humankind.
