Sea of Hope

Josef is a successful violin maker who enjoys the quiet rhythms of his life—working in his workshop, walking his aging dog, and feeding the birds. Most of all, he secretly cherishes his love for his neighbor, Anežka. But when an unexpected diagnosis turns his world upside down and time suddenly becomes precious, Josef, with the support of his friends, sets out to fulfill the dreams he has long put aside. Screenwriter Martin Horský, known for several of contemporary Czech cinema's biggest hits, most notably romantic comedies, makes an assured directorial debut. Anchored by an outstanding ensemble cast and a finely crafted screenplay that deftly intertwines multiple storylines, the film builds into a moving and deeply emotional drama.
