Kichka: Life Is a Cartoon

Poland, Germany 2018 | 74 minutes | English, Hebrew, French, German | Hebrew, English subtitles

Renowned Belgian-born cartoonist, Michel Kichka, is widely commissioned to address politics and current events. Yet a layer of humor conceals his personal trauma; Kichka’s graphic novel Second Generation, describes how Kichka’s father’s wartime experiences marked his entire family. Filmmakers Delfina Jałowik and Jürgen Kaumkötter followed Henri and Michel Kichka in Europe and Israel. The result is an honest conversation between father and son, who finally succeed in speaking openly about the family history.
