On August 30, 1972, at Madison Square Garden, John Lennon gave his first post-Beatles performance in the “One to One” charity concert with Yoko Ono. A year earlier, the couple had moved to the U.S. and settled into a tiny Greenwich Village apartment. Set against a backdrop of political and cultural upheaval, the film weaves together footage from their one-off live concert, TV broadcasts, home movies, phone calls, and a meticulously recreated version of their New York home, capturing the evolution of their radical, progressive outlook. Oscar-winning director Kevin Macdonald, together with Sam Rice-Edwards, creates a vibrant, immersive cinematic experience portraying 18 whirlwind months of creative and activist energy from two of the most influential and perceptive artists of their time.
