An Irrepressible Woman is inspired by Jewish French socialist politician and three-time Prime Minister, Léon Blum (Hippolyte Girardot) and his love affair with Janot Reichenbach (Elsa Zylberstein), who met Blum when she was merely sixteen and fell in love.  Years later, when they could finally be together, the Nazis arrived in France and Janot gave up her comfortable life to link her destiny to Léon Blum. Filmmaker Laurent Heynemann presents a polished period drama inspired by the work of historian Dominique Missika. “Leon Blum was transferred from prison to prison, and Janot never left his side; this is the story of an endless love” (Laurent Heynemann).
